There will be two keynote presentations:

  • Dr. Benjamin Balluff: Bioinformatics assistant professor in M4I at Maastricht University.
  • Prof. Dr. Julio Saez-Rodriguez: Professor of Mechanistic Modeling in Computational Biomedicine at the Medical Faculty of RWTH Aachen University, as part of the Joint Research Center for Computational Biomedicine (JRC-COMBINE).

What is byteMAL?
byteMAL (Bioinformatics for Young inTernational researchers) is a conference for young researchers in the fields of bioinformatics and computational biology and aims to provide a new networking platform for knowledge and expertise exchange across borders.

As researchers of very related topics in neighboring regions we are excited to widen our perspectives by creating the opportunity to discuss methods, tools, challenges and successes with people of similar mindset.

To vitalize the communication amongst researchers from the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium, there will be three independent conferences held in Maastricht, Aachen and Liège.

The conferences are especially aimed at young researchers – master students, PhD students, and Post-docs. It will give participants the opportunity to learn top-notch research from experienced professors in the same field, present their current work on posters, and discuss their own developed tools and approaches with each other.

ISMB/ECCB 2015

The annual international conference on Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology (ISMB) is the major meeting of the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB). Over the past 22 years the ISMB conference has grown to become the world’s largest bioinformatics/computational biology conference. Joining forces with the European Conference on Computational Biology (14th Annual Conference) ISMB/ECCB 2015 will be the year’s most important computational biology event globally.

The conferences provide a multidisciplinary forum for disseminating the latest developments in bioinformatics/computational biology. ISMB/ECCB brings together scientists from computer science, molecular biology, mathematics, statistics and related fields. Its principal focus is on the development and application of advanced computational methods for biological problems. ISMB/ECCB 2015 will offer the strongest scientific program and the broadest scope of any international bioinformatics/computational biology conference in 2015. Building on past successes, the Berlin conference is designed to cater to variety of disciplines within the bioinformatics/computational biology community.

ISMB/ECCB 2015 takes place July 10-14, at the Convention Centre Dublin (CCD). For two days preceding the conference, additional opportunities including Satellite Meetings, Student Council Symposium, and a selection of Special Interest Group Meetings and Tutorials are all offered to enable registered participants to learn more on the latest methods and tools within specialty research areas.

Bioinformatics & Systems Biology conference

The BioSB 2015 conference combines the annual Netherlands Bioinformatics Conference (NBIC) and the annual Systems Biology Symposium (SB@NL). Because of the great success of the NBIC conference format in the past, this years’ BioSB conference will be organised in the familiar style: a 2-day conference at Congrescentrum De Werelt in Lunteren.

We received a number of nominations for the BioSB Young Investigator Award 2015. The Young Investigator Award commission will select a winner who will give his/her honorary lecture on May 20, 17.30 h after receiving the award.
